Having a great staff in any company is important, but it is especially important when you are dealing with students who could potentially be renting from you. Your staff will be trying to convince students that your company is worthy of their limited money supply, so you need a great staff to help showcase the apartments you have for lease. The success of your leasing company is dependent on how good your staff is, so having a great on-site staff is crucial for your company doing well.

Your staff is the face of your company

It has been said that happy employees make for happy customers. While that was originally said in the context of a retail environment, it can be true in any kind of business that involves customer service, including leasing. If your staff is miserable, especially when they are dealing with students who are potentially going to be leasing with you, you will lose out on the business. However, if your staff is proactive, kind, and positive, that will show potential student renters that your company is upbeat and positive.

Their success is your success. If they are successful at bringing in student renters, this success reflects on you. You have the power to make your employees as successful as possible. As a manager, their success means that you have chosen great employees and that you make the work environment as positive as you can. This resonates through the customer experience as renters can tell if your company is quality or not based on the employees.

Without good employees, you do not have a company. Good employees can help make your company successful by maintaining student relationships and helping to solve problems when they come up. They are the ones who can come up with ways to bring in new renters and make your apartments attractive to student renters. Good employees have great communication with the students and are transparent with what goes into the renting process.

Apartment leasing is competitive

Student apartment leasing can be a competitive market. Students do not have a ton of money, so that are looking for an affordable place to live. Even if your prices are competitive with other leasing companies, your staff and how they interact with students can make or break the deal. If your staff is positive and great to interact with, students will be more likely to choose you over other companies and may even go as far as recommend you to other students. However, if your staff is unpleasant, you will lose out on the student and they will likely tell other students to steer clear. As mentioned before, your on-site staff is the face of your company, so having a great staff can help make your company successful.

Also, you need to showcase the fact that your apartments are worth renting. Having a great staff who can point out the great aspects of each and every apartment is crucial. Students search for so many apartments and having a staff that can point out what makes your set of apartments stand out can win them over. They are looking for the most reliable and trustworthy place to rent and spend their limited amount of money, so your staff needs to be kind and friendly, yet willing to push to show why students should rent from your company.

With a host of leasing companies out there, your staff needs to be skilled enough to reach potential students. While you may have great apartments at an affordable price, you need to get the word out there. Your staff needs to be able to spread the word. You need great marketing staff to figure out ways to find ways to get new student renters in. You can post on Facebook groups and Twitter. Use social media platforms that work best for the students you are hoping to reach.

Students need to trust your staff

Students need to have a relationship with their leasing company. They need to feel like they can approach you with any issues they have and that they can trust your company with their issues and the money they are paying each month. Having an on-site staff that is open to communication and is willing to answer any questions that students have is important. Trust is so crucial for companies these days, and when students are figuring out renting for the first time, they need to feel like they can trust your company. Keep the lines of communication as open as possible. Be kind, courteous, and upfront about anything regarding fees and information the students need to know.

Having a great on-site staff at your leasing company is important for the overall success of your company. Without a great staff, you will not be able to reach potential renters and find students who may not have heard of your company before. Your staff needs to be trustworthy so that students keep coming back each semester.
